Max | Saint Louis Newborn Photography

There is no greater honor as a photographer than when a fellow photog asks you to take their picture(s)…multiply that times a thousand when said photographer is someone who has been both an inspiration and mentor to you, and that’s how I felt when Lisa asked me to capture their newest addition.

I’m not gonna lie…I miiiiiiiight (on rare occasion) tend to exaggerate a little (for dramatic effect of course)…but the hands down, 100% truth is that there would literally be no Relic Photography if my sweet friend Lisa Hessel hadn’t been willing to share her amazing skills, knowledge, talent, and time with me when I didn’t know much more about photography than “point…annnnnd…shoot.”

She’s an amazing photographer, an excellent (and patient) teacher, a creative writer…

…oh, and a super beautiful mama…

…with absomatlutely Ah-dorable boys!!! (any and all of these qualify as my favorite…Kaden is the cutest big brother ever!)

…and then there’s Jon…I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that Jon is truly the kindest person I’ve ever known…he’s as steadfast as they come and defines “glass half full”. He’s our pastor…and our friend…and obviously an adoring dad!

Little Max could not have been sweeter…he just slept…

…and smiled…
…and slept and smiled.

(with a little yawn thrown in there now and again)…

Oh, hello Mr. Cool (also perhaps the most perfect 3 year old that’s ever lived…)

Dear Lisa: there could never have been enough words to express my gratitude…thankfully there are pictures. Enjoy.

  • I think I may have looked at this post about 700 times by now, and it still makes me cry. I can’t tell you how much I absolutely love these photos. LOVE them. And you are entirely too kind Kelly…. you were a badass photographer long before we even met 🙂
