Some of our besties and their miracle baby {} St. Louis Family Photography

Soon after we met Kevin and Nikki (back in ’03) they were told they would never have kids. For nearly a decade, we have watched them live life to the fullest, embracing God’s plan for them with grace and humilty, despite it looking very different then what they envisioned.

A few years ago, they decided to downsize from the big house they bought planning to fill with kids, to something that was “simple” and accomodated “the flow of their lives”. Kevin is a doctor (and a damn good one if you need your spine cut on) but apparently he’s also a closet architect…for weeks, that turned into months, that kind of turned into years, he sketched and plotted and re-sketched the perfect house for two grown-ups and their dog. Even as the house was being built, there were times where he’d have something ripped out and re-done it because he’d come up with a new layout that just made more sense for their little bungalo.

Sometimes I wonder if God was smiling or outright laughing as they planned this perfect, “little”,  “no-kid” home, because before the ink was even dry on the closing papers, Nikki found out they were expecting.

Fortunately, when it was all said and done, their little “downsize” had turned into a bazillion-square-foot monstrosity that includes a coffee bar off their bedroom, granite counter tops for the “dog-sink”, and an in-home exercise room that rivals any private gym. So… needless to say there’s plenty of beautiful space for their new addition…(and it’s funny seeing a bouncy seat next to the stone fireplace in the master bath and the treadmill moved to the side to make room for the plastic play-yard 🙂 ).

Celebrating with them at every step of their journey has been one of the great joys of our lives…and capturing these family photos was an even greater privilege than usual. Check out this adorable family.

Favorites (expecting to see one on canvas in your foyer) 🙂

Logan, you. are. adorable.

Hows about the joy on their faces as they both look at Kevin…love.

Sitting still this long for a 7 month old does feel like prison you know!

Dear Logan: you were more than worth the wait…and had you come sooner you may not have your very own in home theatre, so everything works out for the best, right? Can’t wait to watch you grow.
